Chipping IT
About Chipping IT
Chipping IT is a small business specialising in software design. In this case, "software" includes websites, bespoke applications and macros.
Chipping IT is the trading name for me - Nigel Chipping. I run this business in my spare time from my home, which allows me to keep costs to an absolute minimum and offer an extremely competitive pricing policy.
Professionally, I work in IT - writing software, designing websites, writing macros and keeping 25 computers and associated network equipment running as smoothly as possible.
So, what can Chipping IT do for your business? Simple:
- Bespoke Software: There are literally thousands of software applications available today to do all manner of tasks to help a business. But one thing is clear with all of them - they were not written specifically for your needs. Every business is different and so it follows that every business has different needs. Maybe an off-the-shelf package can meet most of your needs, but there's always something that just doesn't quite fit the bill. However, a bespoke piece of software is written to meet your needs exactly, not your main competitor, not your neighbour's, but yours and only yours. I can also use your existing databases to enable tight integration with other software you use.
- Macros: If your needs are more simple than bespoke software, you may find that simple Macros can work some magic for your business. Probably the most powerful macros are written to work with Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet software. Again, linking with your existing databases can give you incredibly simple, yet amazingly powerful tools to give you critical reports in a matter of seconds.
- Websites: I am well versed in many website technologies, from basic html to complex scripting using Microsoft technologies, PHP scripting and JavaScript. I currently favor a content management package called Joomla!, which not only provides a very powerful tool for managing a website, but is also extremely well supported with thousands of templates and extensions. But there are many other content management packages around and I am happy to work with any of them. Using a content management package takes a huge amount of the background work out of website design and enables me to concentrate more on specific areas where more detail is required.
